The Immune System has something to say. Are you listening?
The humoral immune system responds quickly and specifically to aberrant proteins produced throughout the disease process, effectively marking a disease, often well before symptoms occur. Autoantibodies are these markers. Orthogonal to other ‘omics methods, autoantibodies are highly specific, abundant and stable. Because they are a specific read out of disease, and not just a snap-shot of the physiological state, they are highly biologically relevant biomarkers.
